Fascinating history of the home and an amazing collection of art. Wish we could have taken a few pictures in the home (ie, of the “sake” chandelier).
Very thorough tour with incredible contents in a very cool house!
The tour gave us a lot of background history. It was very interesting to see the pieces that came from all over the world.
The tour guide and the collection of art were both amazing. It is unlike any other house tour that you will do in Charleston.
Wow. Simply incredible. Our guide took over an hour to explain and answer every question we had about the house. What a remarkable experience. So glad we made this stop. Calhoun House should give lessons to Boonhall Plantation on how to give a good tour in an occupied home. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Hope there will be a more detailed catalogue about the individual pieces of art in the future
you cant see everything this house has to offer in one trip. The tour guide was both knowledgeable and a sweetheart! What a collection of valuables from around the world a must see!
Great tour guide. Very knowledgeable.
Lacy did an excellent job showing us the house. She made it very interesting. We asked a lot of questions and she was able to answer them all!
Such a beautiful home and the furnishings are drop dead gorgeous! Kelsey is one of the most knowledgeable docents I’ve ever met. Thank you for allowing us to visit!
Our guide was fabulous and took the time to answer many questions. There is so much history, architecture and art collections that make this our favorite house to tour in Charleston!
Would recommend to everyone!! Tour guide was very knowledgeable and the mansion was amazing!! The beautiful collection from all around the world have never seen anything like it!! The work that everyone has put into restoring the mansion and the knowledge of the staff definitely a must see and I will do again! Thank you
The tour guide was excellent: friendly, informative and passionate about history.
Wonderful that a college student, majoring in history, be given the opportunity to work at the Calhoun Mansion.
We were on the 10am tour on Sunday, Jan 5th.
Tour guide was GREAT. I wish I recalled her name..... Very knowledgeable. (Our tour was Friday Dec 28th @ 3:00)
This is one of the most remarkable experiences one can have emerging self in an opulent era and lifestyle of a few. Huge thank you to current owner who graciously opened up his home and art collection to public. Highly recommend it!
The house is amazing. It's a peak into another world.
The tour guide, Kelsey, was very nice and knowledgeable. Perhaps one of the best guides I've ever had there in Charleston.
In my opinion the house looks cluttered with so much stuff so close together
I thought the tour was great! our guide was awesome, just wish they were longer than 30 minutes!
It was extremely interesting and out tour guide had tons of knowledge about the house. I will say a small sign should be posted in the entryway of the house to please go visit the ticket office prior to the tour. Lot's of people including us just standing around not realizing we need to go dow and collect our purchased tickets or go buy tickets.
Would like to see a little more of the house. A little less of the collection of artifacts.
Hard to see everything as the rooms where packed with so much stuff. Wish we could of seen more of house as it is the largest home in Charleston.
Our guide was knowledgeable, told great stories and kept the group engaged. The home was very interesting.
The house was beautiful and great to see. There was just too much of the owner's collection, though, displayed in the house. While I understand the original furniture is not available, it would have been better to see the house decorated as it would have been back in the day instead of seeing it with an overwhelming amount of items displayed. The sheer number of items on display detracts from the house, in my opinion.
Our tour guide did a very good job and she was very informative.
The Calhoun Mansion was very interesting and our tour guide was very knowledgeable! It was like a private museum tour!
Too many people in the tour group (20) hard to take in everything with that many people, a lot to see and not enough time
My guide was very knowledgeable and well spoken. I do not remember her name but I hope your records I dictate who was my guide during my tour on Thursday at 2:30. She allowed ample time for questions. I was frankly fascinated by the history of the house and the variety of decorative items acquired and arranged by the current owner. The on-line tool to reserve a tour was very easy to use. I truly enjoyed touring the beautiful Calhoun House!
