Additional Information

Embark on a two-day exploration of the most significant film shooting sites in the nation. The journey includes visits to historic Roman landmarks and subterranean residences, traversing an expansive salt lake and an overnight stay at an oasis at the edge of the Sahara.

Start off your desert expedition at El Jem Colosseum, a historical Roman arena that could accommodate 35,000 viewers who used to enjoy gladiator combats and chariot contests. Followed by cultural enrichment, move onto Matmata for lunch and a tour of the excavated cavernous dwellings, made famous by the Star Wars franchise. Conclude the day with a restful night in Douz, also known as the ‘Gateway to the Sahara’.

The next day commences with crossing Chott el Djerid, a large salt lake with a rust-toned hue, succeeded by a navigating in a 4x4 to Onk Jemal. At this location, you’ll step onto a fictional city structured solely for Star Wars shooting. We’ll afterwards make a trip to Tozeur for market exploration, then pause for a Tunisian midday meal in Gafsa. In the post-lunch part of the day, complete the tour with a photography session at the vintage Kairouan.

Very nice experience, I recommend. - We took the excursion recommended by Gazi. It was great, we visited a third of Tunisia. A perfect organization, with professionals who manage a lot of tourists but no rush, everything is done carefully.

Extensive tour of Tunisia - My favorite part of the excursion was El Jem Coliseum and Chott El Djerid. The overnight hotel was perfect good in that it had a swimming pool which was great after a warm day in the Sahara.

Great Value Tour! - Great long overnight tour, covering the same sights as the other tours, but at the best price. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy during our tour, but that was an unexpected change in the forecast. Nevertheless, we had a great time exploring El Jem (our favorite!), the Berber village, and a camel ride on day 1. As others have mentioned, the Star Wars cafe is a sad tourist trap, but the lunch was well portioned and decent. I found all meals during the tour were bland, and I believe they were catering to tourist by using minimal seasoning. For reference, I generally seek well seasoned foods, like Indochinese and Portuguese. Keep in mind, all drinks, including water, are an additional 3-5 TND each meal. We were also very impressed with the hotel we stayed at in Douz, it had a nice palacial feel. Just note there was no WIFI, but the Ooredoo SIM cards we purchased on arrival provided great service everywhere. Also be aware the wake up time is 4:00 AM on the second day! I think it's worth it/necessary considering how much ground the tour covers. Be aware most hours will be spent sitting on the bus between places, but that is the only way to cover all these places. They also make a rest stop between the longer drives. The second day consisted of the 4x4 tour, lunch at nice hotel, and Kairouan. The 4x4 was awesome, but it was a little disappointing that we did not enter the Great Mosque.

Amazing trip you’ve got to do - What can I say? Mohammed was amazing. He was a Cyclopedia of information. I learnt so much from him. He was very kind and professional in his manner even though the trip I loved so much. It was hard going at times as you Travel long long long distances. I would highly recommend this trip as you see so much in such a short space of time also learnt so much about the country thanks to Mohammed The driver sorry can’t remember his name at the moment was also very professional and I felt very safe at all times this trip was very well organised and on time. Mohammed is such a credit to this company and if you get him, you’re lucky because He knows a wealth of information about everything in Tunisia. Thank you, Mohammed from Sharon and the girls

Lots of travel but worth it - Don’t take this trip unless you’re ready to sit on the coach for a long time - 1200kms worth of time! But if you’re prepared for this then it’s a great trip. Mohammed the guide is excellent, the food at all stops was good and the hotel was lovely (just time to use the pool when we arrived before dinner). Highlights for us were the camels and jeep ride.

Wonderful trip! - Our tour didn't start too well as they were 30 minutes late picking us up ...or I would have given them 5 stars !! We had a really brilliant couple of days and Muhammad was an excellent guide ( and extremely patient when the same people were late every time we stopped !!) He was very informative and we learnt a lot during the trip. I would highly recommend doing this. The only extras were the tourist tax at the overnight hotel , which I think was 3 dinar each and the camel rides which were 40 dinar , which works out to be about £10.15 . This was great fun and a must do. The camels are very gentle . You will get men appear beside you on Arabian horses offering you horse rides. Don't take their photos as they get quite aggressive if they spot you taking their photos !! The overnight stay in the hotel was good , basic but clean and the evening meal was a buffet with plenty of choices for everyone. All in all a fantastic ( but tiring trip as you cover 800 miles in 2 days ) I highly recommend this to everyone. You get to see so much of the country . Thank you Muhammad for a wonderful couple of days. 😊

The tour company never came to pick me up - The tour company never came to pick me up and did not reply to any messages or phone calls. I was able to contact viator, and they were also unable to contact the tour company. They told me to keep waiting. I waited at the pickup point (a hotel I was not staying at) from 6:30 am to 7:45 am before giving up on my 2-day trip. Viator started the refund process and the tour company (Tunisie Voyages) did respond to them about that later in the day. I got my refund quickly but no explanation or apology from the tour company. (Luckily, I was able to get a similar tour the following day with a different company and the tour was great.)
