Highlights
  • Saint Kitts and Nevis - This tropical exploration starts with a pickup at the port or accommodation point. It sets off on a sightseeing tour in a private vehicle through the historical, bicultural (French/English) city of Basseterre. The drive to Basseterre is approximately a 20-25 minute drive from the port. Along the way, you will pass the National Museum, the Berkeley Memorial, and Independence Square (formerly Pall Mall Square) while listening to your guide explain the island’s complex history. Since 1750, Independence Square has been the centre of government and business. As you will hear, African slaves were housed nearby and traded in the square until it was outlawed in the 19th-century. After that, you’ll head off to the coast for the Carving of De Rocks, but not before passing some of the other historic city’s prime landmarks, including the city’s many churches. Tropical St. Kitts has had a dangerous history, well-deserving its current peace. On your route to the Carving of De Rocks, you will pass the War Memorial, dedicated to remembering those servicemen who gave their lives in the World Wars.
