Private Airport transfer and 4hr city tour - Hired Tom based on reviews on TA. Everything worked out great. Tom was at arrival lounge as planned and safely drove us to hotel with commentary on highlights we passed along the way. The next morning, he had arrived on time and gave us a fantastic tour of Yuyuan Gardens, A Buddhist Temple and the French Concession. He had chosen these attractions based on our conversations, thus, tailoring our excursions to suit our wishes. Wow. We haven’t had that experience before. Tom had also taken time to locate a shop where we needed a couple of things prior to boarding our cruise and then dropped us off at the cruise terminal on time for cruise embarkation. All during the tour, Tom was more than willing to offer tidbits of information on the areas history, present and future without over-dominating the conservation. He was also willing to answer any questions we had no matter how trivial they may have been. Overall, without doubt, would hire Tom again for anything we may require in Shanghai. Thanks Tom. A superb experience - I spent the day on tour with Tom and I had an excellent time! We visited some excellent locations, and Tom was the perfect host. He was very knowledgeable about all of the locations and offered a perfect transportation service for the entire trip. Tom even went out of his way to book and visit a vegetarian restaurant for me, which was excellent. I highly recommend Tom and would not hesitate in using his services again next time I am in Shanghai.

Tom is your best chance to make your visit to Shanghai complete and enjoyable - I booked Tom in November when I had a long layover in Shanghai on my way to Southeast Asia. I vividly remember contacting him very "last minute" from the airline lounge, just minutes before boarding, based on his previous clients' reviews on Tripadvisor. He immediately was very professional and responsive, offering his availability for the morning after. He discussed all of the Tour options and even kept in touch with me through text during the flight. After landing, he introduced himself and took me on a fascinating tour of Shanghai for 6 hours through the most iconic landmarks of the old and the new city. His English is very good and he is always extremely polite and generous with information that goes above and beyond a guide's spectrum. His car was very well kept and his driving was safe and comfortable. I had a great time on his tour and I was so happy with his services that I booked him again (this time for two full days) 2 weeks ago when I returned to Shanghai for a whole weekend...once again, an impeccable experience! I wholeheartedly recommend Tom to anyone traveling through Shanghai and I will definitely contact him again in the future when there.

Excellent Private Shanghai Tour - We booked Tom’s based on trip advisor reviews. I am so happy we did. They ensured a very smooth trip. 1. Provided transportation to our hotel on the Bund for 6 persons in our party. The driver was waiting, with a name placard. Price was 550 yuan. 2. Provided a full day tour of Shanghai including: (note...our guide Leo asked our permission to go to each stop. We were ignorant about what some stops were, and would have done some things different, but this was no fault of the operator.) A. The 1,000 year old Buddhist Temple B. The French Style “White House” which preserved Chinese arts, and demonstrated them by current artisans. It was a lovely way to see arts unique to China. We were surprised by how delicate and intricate so many of them were. C. Old Town China Town: stopped for a tea tasting, and city view. Thoroughly enjoyed this as it gave a demonstration into teas different than Lipton! We wish we knew to have asked to spend more time at this stop. Our party would have liked an hour to see and skipped a later stop. D. The cricket and flower market. Apparently in China they enjoy betting on cricket (the bug) fights. This was unique to see, but did not jive with our values around proper care of animals. We are Northern California animal lovers, and were uncomfortable with the conditions some of the animals were kept. We heard “flower market” and saw more than we wanted, but that is why we travel isn’t it? E. Knock off Market: we aren’t shoppers, so we drove 20 minutes or so to walk and look at fake western goods. Really not worth seeing unless you wish to purchase purses, shoes, suitcases, electronics, and garments. Our weather was miserable and rainy, so there were limits to how much walking and looking we would do, hence I believe our guide submitted the last couple markets to ensure we got a “good” thorough tour. If weather had permitted I’m sure he would have taken us to more scenic and historical spots versus markets. Speaking of our guide...he was really great. This was our second trip to China. I was previously bothered by inattentive behavior of another guide. The guide provided by Tom’s Tours (Leo) was a true gentleman. We traveled with a couple seniors, an 8 year old, and two other middle aged ladies. He first attended to our safety when crossing streets, or on uneven surfaces. He spoke to us in such a fun and respectful way, we quickly developed an affection for him. At the end of the day he had recommendations to enhance our evening...all of which were taken. At the end of the day...knowing our schedule, he recommended a half day tour for the next day. We took it and added another member of our party. This tour was 450 yuan for 5 passengers. 3. Water village: apparently there is a hundreds year old village on the outskirts of the city that was a bit of a vacation spot for wealthy persons long ago. This village is built on canals and is very touristy, but we really loved it. It exemplified the architectural styles associated with China. There were a gazillion food, and craft shops that satiated the shopping bug we had the previous day. Leo was again our guide and took us all around giving us the history and pointing out unique spaces. This was a highlight of our entire trip to Asia. We all were so happy he recommended it. The highlight was a canal cruise. 4. Another sransfer from our hotel to cruise port for 550 yuan with the same driver who brought us from the airport. Again...Tom’s tours worked very hard to take care of us. I began corresponding with Tom several months before we left via text. In each instance Tom communicated with me in good English. He checked in multiple times, including a follow up to ensure we were satisfied. Yes Tom...we are more than satisfied.
