INCREDIBLE- MUST READ!! - MUST READ REVIEW… PHOTOS AT END MUST SEE!! WOW- what an incredible tour that me and my partner will remember for the rest of our lives! What a legend our guide Kobe was! The minibus that he picked us up in was a modern Mercedes sprinter style minibus a smooth ride, warm and comfortable. We were lucky enough to see the Aurora on our first try, but not only that we saw and were able to get pictures of a VOLCANO ERUPTING AT THE SAME TIME THE AURORA WAS PRESENT which gave a surreal experience which we are eternally grateful for. Kobe was our tour guide, and he was brilliant, couldn’t have asked for better, he explained the whole process of how the Aurora is formed scientifically, (and also his grandmothers explanation for the green light, which was particularly funny)! He took multiple photos for us on his state of the art camera which as you’ll see from the photos I will post, looked incredible. Being able to use Viking props in some photos was also a nice touch and brought a bit of extra humour and fun to the night. We actually saw the Aurora within 1 hour of driving to a destination from Kobe noticing it forming in the night sky whilst driving. It was a surreal moment, and we took some great pictures and were very satisfied, as it was one of the last if not the last tour of the year for the season, and it was a small group, only 6 of us in total, I assumed that would be the end of the night.. we’d had hot chocolate, cookies and around 45 mins of taking pictures after the first sighting, and I would have been happy with that, but Kobe had other ideas!!! He said it seemed a particularly good night for the Aurora and with the current eruption of a local volcano going on, he had an idea for where could POTENTIALLY, be a great location to capture the Aurora and the volcano in one photo, and if you’ve made it through the review this far, you already know our boy Kobe delivered!! We will remember this night for the rest of our lives. In this second location the Aurora was so much brighter and amazing, the volcano in the background was unbelievable! We were able to enjoy this phenomenon for I’d say well over an hour. After the second location Kobe even then tried to take us to a location much closer to the volcano so we could get a closer shot, try as he might however the roads were closed so we were unable to do so and we called it a night with a very quiet sleepy journey home I think everybody was overwhelmed by what we’d witnessed that night. All in all Kobe went above and beyond to satisfy and exceed the expectations of everyone on board. The pro photos he took of the group were then emailed to us by the time I’d woke up the next morning!! Talk about great service! Seeing the Aurora isn’t guaranteed, and no matter how good your guide is, it won’t always be possible to see it, it is very dependant on a number of factors but I know one thing, being on a tour with a guide of Kobes knowledge and integrity, you’ll have the best chance you possibly can. This tour does include a free run the next night until you do see it which was a great perk. If you want the best chance to see the Northern lights, have a good time and all round great night, trust Aurora Viking!!

Spot on - I had an awesome evening with Kobe as the guide. Right from the outset while waiting at the pickup location and seeing hoards of people getting on other tour busses, I knew I had made the right choice with Aurora Viking. Everything went smoothly as expected from booking to pickup to the hunt for the aurora, nothing disappointed. Being a small group, having a professional and experienced guide made the evening so enjoyable and one to remember. The photos were emailed straight after the tour and were amazing.

Amazing aurora trip with Emil and Aurora Viking - My wife and I had an amazing northern light tour with Emil and Aurora Viking. We were picked up at pre-arranged pick-up hotel promptly and were driven to Emil's favorite lake front viewing spot near Thingvellir National Park. The non-stop aurora display was spectacular for the next 2 and half hours. The sky was dancing and moving with vibrant colors and sharply changing shapes. It was a frigid windy night with temperature at 4-5 below zero. My fingers felt completely numb fiddling with the phone and buttons on the camera. But Emil had no problem and took so many wonderful pictures for us and others in the tour of 15. After all, he is a true Viking! Thank you Emil and Aurora Viking! Next time, I will be sure wearing wool socks and warmer gloves when going out aurora hunting with Aurora Viking.

Amazing - I had the best time with aurora viking! Our guide was Kobe and he had such a positive energy about him. He was just as excited as us to see the light show that night. At one point towards the end a majority of people were back on the bus and he opened the door and yelled at everyone to get back out … the lights were doing an incredible display. He also pulled over on the way back to Reykjavik when the light activity was high. I’ll never forget this evening.

If you want to see the northern lights, and have a fabulous time, go with Aurora Vikings! - Highly recommend the tour with Emil and Aurora Vikings! We went in first week April with a KP index between 3 to 4, a few days away from the no moon night and a relatively cloudless evening. Three reasons: 1. It's a small group tour, you're not going to be on a big bus with 50 people. This means you'll also not be in a spot with 50 people talking around you when you want to focus on the lights and photography. 2. They focus on getting you to the best location to see the lights. Think national park, lake, mountains, trees, snow on the ground (now this one is subject to weather). So if you're serious about getting some good northern light photos and not just photos, this is your tour. On our tour we made a first stop as soon as we first spotted the lights, then to a second spot where we stayed the bulk of the time and then a third spot on our way back when suddenly the display intensified. 3. You get hot chocolate, cookies and some Viking attire to dress up in fpr photos, making an already memorable evening, something you can't forget even if you try! Emil also took photos of us on his camera in different poses and locations, and sent them on immediately, so we all are guaranteed a great reminder of the evening, especially when not everyone in our group had a professional camera. I will add coordination with Emil was so smooth, we had a day tour before this and he maintained great communication to ensure we made it to the trip with ease. He gave us a lot of information about northern lights and picked and dropped us right from where we were staying. I've seen the lights before in other countries and hence this isn't my first tour. I'd say in comparison this was my best one. Thanks Emil and Aurora Vikings! Tips for anyone going: 1. Carry a phone tripod. You can do long exposure shots easily then. 2. Carry and wear all the warm things you can think off. Preferably gloves that you can also operate your phone and camera with as you'll be so excited and want to be out despite the crazy cold. 3. KP index isn't the end of the world if it's low, but cloud coverage is more critical.

Great Tour with a Great Guide - We were extremely lucky as it was a clear sky with no moon and a lot of activity- and Emile as our guide. He went above and beyond not just taking pics of everyone and finding a great spot, but as we were about to leave there was a new display of lights and he made sure everyone saw & set up his camera again for more pics. On the way back he stopped again because we passed a spot where the lights were magnificent. The lights come and go so if you see them you have to take your pics right away. Really exceeded my expectations especially for this time of year- highly recommend!

SUPERB SERVICE AND GREAT EXPERIENCE - We went with Emil, one the owners. He is the one who picked up the phone every time we called and helped coordinate our pick up. He took us took to an awesome spot where we saw a great show of the northern lights. Although I had camera gear it was so cold and windy it was hard to use them. Emil taking pictures with his pro camera was the best part. He was very patient and took many pics for the group some of whom had been to Norway on similar tours and had not seen the lights! The van was comfortable and warm and we enjoyed his hot chocolate and cookies. The whole group was very happy. I am a small business owner and I really think when you deal directly with the owner you get the best service. We highly recommend him and Aurora Viking.

10/10 GREAT TOUR GUIDE - Truly an amazing experience with the most amazing tour guide (Kobe). He was so knowledgeable and kind. Also a great sense of humor. We saw the lights in two different locations and they were breathtaking. He also helped my boyfriend work his camera to take great pictures of the northern lights. He also took wonderful pictures of everyone and the lights. He shared them with us promptly after we arrived back at the hotel.

Amazing experience - So glad I did this tour! I was also super grateful that the company was really kind and accommodating with me missing the tour I'd initially booked due to a substantially delayed flight and let me rearrange. I was lucky enough to see the most amazing show in the sky, it felt like a real once in a life time thing for me. Emil was a great guide, he picked us up promptly and gave us lots of updates about the factors involved in the lights appearing and when they might do so, explained to us in advance that the colours aren't as vivid to the naked eye as in photos and why that was as well as giving us lovely hot chocolate to warm us up. (Do wrap up warm because standing outside in Iceland at night is no joke!) I've included some of my own photos I managed to capture from my Google pixel. The pictures Emil took were also fantastic and substantially better quality than mine, as expected. Thanks so much :)
