Additional Information

Embark on a dual-city day tour from Bangkok.

The itinerary includes a journey to the historical temples in the city of Ayutthaya, before heading to Lopburi, the home of the renowned monkey temple.

Ayutthaya, a kingdom that flourished from 1350 to 1767, is a superb locale for aficionados of cultural history. Over these centuries, it expanded into what was known as Siam (Thailand’s previous name), which nearly spanned the same area as modern Thailand, excluding the northern Thailand’s Lanna Kingdom.

Regarded as one of Thailand’s most ancient cities, Lopburi has been consistently inhabited since the beginning of the Dvaravati period, approximately a millennium and a half ago. In the 10th century, Lopburi fell under the sway of the Khmer Empire which erected numerous remarkable monuments, many of which can still be seen today. In the latter half of the 17th century, King Narai the Great declared Lopburi as the alternative capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

GROUPS ARE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 10 PERSONS.

  • Maximum number of participants per group is 10 persons.
  • Regarding our visit to Lopburi: You must always remember that, no matter what, monkeys are wild animals, not pets. Even though they may look cute, especially the young ones, we always recommend to keep your distance, not bring any food with you and keep all your belongings in your bag. You don’t need to come close as it’s just as fun to watch the monkeys from a distance.

Great Day in Ayutthaya & Lopburi - A great day touring around the temples of Ayutthaya and finishing off with a couple of hours playing with and feeding the monkeys at Lopburi monkey temple with Piya from Wander Siam.

This is the tour to go on! - Absolute incredible experience! Piya was our guide. He knows exactly where to go and what to see which not only made for an amazing tour but the best photos. You can get immersed in Ayutthaya and have fun with the monkeys at Lomburi knowing that Piya will catch those memories in a photo. You can tell Piya LOVES his job based on his knowledge and his fun attitude. Both Piya and Mai (the tour driver) are friendly which made the experience even better. Lomburi was definitely a highlight. Only suggestion would be to avoid wearing white while in Lomburi as the monkeys can leave your clothes a little bit dirty. The tour overall felt very personalised, super fun and engaging! I’ll be coming back.

Great trip to experience the suburban Thailand - The trip was amazing and the tour guides were very nice. I actually felt really sick in middle of my trip but they tailored the trip for me and stopped by pharmacy since my husband and I got lucky with no other people booked. He took some really nice photos of us and the monkeys!

If you want to go, do it with a guide for sure. - We had an excellent trip, the company that operated was wander Siam, our guide Tony was incredible. We learned more before we arrived at our first temple than multiple previous tours combined. The temples were very interesting to see and the spot we were taken to get lunch was delicious with a nice seat on the river. It was raining by the time we reached lompburi but it was still incredible to see all the monkeys very close up. We got stuck in traffic on the way back, but our driver (can’t recall her name) was excellent in a situation I’m not sure I’d be able to handle myself.

Awesome - Awesome trip. Time went by so fast. Our guide, Piya, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He told us the best places to take photos. Monkey town was the highlight for me. Little guys jumping all over you, but still felt really safe. Food was also excellent quality. Can recommend!

Awesome guide and tour - This was an amazing tour and Piya was such a wonderful guide. He was very accomodating to our small group and was a wealth of information. I would highly recommend this tour, it’s great value. Piya also knows all the best spots and angles to take photos for the gram. Did this with a 2 year old and he had a blast.

Tour Guide minus the shackle to ankle - Ok, I'm not tour type...I get all itchie when i hear ramblings and I just want to run. This tour guide allowed me to go do my own thing (while others put a chain around your ankle). I explained my itch, he then would gave a brief history intro and said where the hit spots were, then off I went, and we then met up in the end. My kind of tour guide.

Best time in Ayutthaya and with the monkeys! - This tour was very special! Piya was an amazing guide, he knows the story of his country very well, loves to share many information and knows all the best spots to take photos! We also enjoyed to play with the monkeys. Just a small tips for the next participants of the tour: take into account that you will get dirty after playing with the monkeys! Better not to wear white clothes and maybe to bring something to change afterwards. After the monkeys the driver will take you to a gas station with nice and clean toilets where you can refresh and change. Thank you again Piya for this great experience!
