Do Dallas: The Right Way
Kwame Garrett-Price

Journeyman, More of an explorer. I base my experience on what I think locals would do. I don't like to look like "Mr. Tourist."

Oddfellows
The best coffee shop in Dallas, this little place will remind you of the hipster havens you'll find in San Francisco or Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Come grab one of the city's top cups and enjoy your tortilla de papas! (Spanish-style omelet)
Cowboys Stadium
It has many names, Jerry World -- The Deathstar -- Cowboys Stadium, but whether you're a fan of America's team or not, come tour one of the most grandiose sports facilities in the world! Quiet as it's kept, Cowboys Stadium is home to a unique collection of contemporary art. I don't mean bronze statues of former Cowboys greats like Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith. I mean big, bold displays of site-specific, privately commissioned and funded pieces, mostly abstract, by 14 living artists, some local, some internationally recognized (Mel Bochner, Olafur Eliasson). Leaving this place, you'll understand why "Everything is bigger in Texas!"
Neiman Marcus Downtown
The Mothership. The Original. Headquarters. Welcome to the Neiman Marcus Flagship Store. Located a couple of blocks from your hotel (The Joule), drop in for some quick shopping while experiencing a bit of fashion history! Don't worry about leaving Neiman's for lunch, located on the 6th floor of the Flagship is the Zodiac Restaurant!
Klyde Warren Park
Love a good view? Love parks? Love activities? Completed in November 2012, this urban oasis has quickly become a favorite for locals! Putting greens, chess, dog park, KWP is a jack of all trades! Klyde Warren Park literally bridges the gap between Downtown Dallas and the nation's largest arts district! Throw a frisbee around during the day, or come back at night and catch a Skyline 360 tour!
Sissy's Southern Kitchen & Bar
Come onnnn, forget your low-carb diet for a day and have some fun! Former Bravo 'Next Food Network Star" Runner-Up, Lisa Garza, brings you the home cooking that the South is known for! The best part? Aside from the coma-inducing fried chicken, authentic shrimp & grits, or the cocktails served in mason jars, Lisa is the most incredible and personable restaurant owner you will ever meet! She is notorious for chatting up customers, her signature bob, and the most charming southern drawl you'll ever hear!
The Cedars Social
Handcrafted cocktails by one of the nation's leading mixologists, Michael Martensen. With phenomenal views of the Dallas skyline, take it all in and enjoy a pleasant Texas night!
Velvet Taco
Who doesn't like late night eats? Check out Dallas' favorite after-hours grub spot! From Grilled Mediterranean flank, calamari, or the rotisserie chicken, any of the 20+ tacos on this menu will hit the spot! If you're vegan, try one of the veggie taco options! Quick service and the line moves pretty darn fast! Don't worry about finding a seat inside, the patio provides great people watching along one of the local's favorite streets!
I would stay at: The Joule Hotel
Bankrolled by movie mogul Tim Headington (The Departed, The Aviator), The Joule Hotel presents a hospitality experience to die for! The heated, rooftop infinity pool is widely considered one of the most spectacular in world (CNN, 2012)
