Go with the flow and enjoy Ait Benhaddhou - Ait Benhaddou is a great place to visit while in Marrakech! The visit was a bit rushed in our case as they merged us with a group that also had paid to see Ourzazate, which we ended up seeing despite not part of the original plan. So, the advise is to keep your mind open as things may not go strictly by the plan, but focus on the beauty that surrounds you. The car ride is long and a lot of curves - good to know if you get easily carsick.

A good day out but could have been even better - A long day much of which is travel to and from Ait Ben Haddau but now the road has been done up this is an interesting drive through the stunning scenery of the Atlas Mountains. It would have been greatly enhanced had we had a guide on the trip with us to tell us more about what we were driving through but the travel part was just a driver who didn't really speak enough of the foreign languages to be able to engage with the group. It would be worth a bit more cost to have a guide as well as a driver on the trip. At Ait Ben Haddau itself we had a local guide to tour the old village - there was some confusion over this because some of the group had this tour guide included in the price and others did not. It would have made life simpler if all bookings were inclusive of the guide. We were delivered to an excellent restaurant for lunch but had insufficient time to eat the set 3 course menu - we had to leave before the dessert was served. So a restaurant offering a quicker meal option such as sandwiches would be better than one limited to set 3-course meals that they can't serve in the time available. After lunch the tour continued to Ouarzazarte - if you're not familiar with the Moroccan film industry, it would be worth swotting up in advance - the film studios at Ouarzazarte came as a complete surprise to us along with the excellent cinema museum that we had a hour to explore. Again a guide would have been helpful for this part of the tip. Overall it was a good day out but a little bit disorganised at times. You can't help feeling that a small increase in cost to fund a guide as well as a driver would go a long way towards improving the experience.

Visit. - Many hours of minibus. The visit was good but very short. Food in a restaurant good but very expensive. Many stops along the way that are not necessary. We arrived 2 and a half hours later.

Subcontracting drivers - The good, the bad and the ugly. Ait Ben Haddou is a must see. If you see one thing in Morocco make it this place. Awe inspiring, historic, storied. I still can not believe I went there. However getting there was a trip. I got picked at the Mefina in a small black van, driven to a Shell gas station not too far and our driver started panning us to other drivers. He was subcontracting us like we were bales of cotton. We just followed him around from tour bus to tour bus till all of us were boarded. Did not like that. At all. The driver never talked to us. He just drove. The tour guide was alright. I plan on coming back but will drive myself and choose a guide once there.

Disappointing day - We do not recommend this tour. First of all, the van that came to pick us up was 45 minutes late. In addition, it was a 4-hour journey to the city, where we then had a simple one-hour tour. After the tour we had the opportunity to have lunch. Lunch was €15, which we thought was a bit expensive. We suggested sharing the food, but this was not possible. Ended up eating somewhere else. The return drive was also 4 hours, with a short stop in another village. Not necessarily worth it. Final score: 8-9 hours on the road for a 1-hour tour. We thought it was a disappointing and wasted day.
