Dancing on the Nile - The company confirmed our reservation and hotel pick up via whatsapp within 15-20 min of the reservation being paid online. The 15 minute pick up window wasn’t an issue, and the transportation from the hotel to the boarding point was smooth and air conditioned. The motorized boat helped us not get stranded on a surprisingly non-windy day on the Nile like some of the boats we saw that had to resort to paddling, and or being tugged by other boats. The smell of diesel burning was the trade off however. The boat ride itself was cool and picturesque, and the sun setting made for a romantic backdrop to our couple pics. The tour guide understood the assignment and encouraged us to climb atop the boat’s roof for more pics, while his pre-pubescent aide/boat-driver handled boating and docking the vessel along the Nile like a grizzled veteran of the Egyptian river game. We had pregamed the boat ride at the hotel pretty hard so we skipped the provided meal of beef rice and veggies but did partake in some of the tasty bananas they gifted us on the island. The island itself was a short tour, maybe 30 minutes with a quick stop at a small animal zoo, showcasing blue ball monkeys, small alligators, and some pleasant turtles along side with roadside souvenirs for sale. The boat ride back was awesome bc the evenings night fall allowed for the lit up Nile to get romantic and we had a small dance party to boot. From hotel pick up to drop off we were about 3-4 hours in and outside of some mosquito feasting on us while visiting the island, we had a blast.
