Explore the ruins of this old fort and see cannons and other artifacts from the early 1900s that overlook the expansive wetlands at the base of the hill.

Here, you’ll also see the Royal Mausoleum – a royal burial ground containing the graves of the first three Sultans of Selangor – as well as the legendary 100 staircase, which was created as a means to climb up Selangor Hill but is also a fabled execution block.

  • Kuala Selangor Nature Park (Taman Alam Kuala Selangor) - Head to Kuala Selangor Nature Park at the foot of Bukit Melawati, where your guide will help point out migratory birds. If you’re lucky, you may spot silvered-leaf monkeys and rare species of bird and butterflies native to this region.

  • Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park - At dusk, proceed to a nearby fishing village for a seafood dinner.
After dinner, take a short drive to Kampung Kuantan to board a typical Malaysian wooden row boat. Relax and enjoy the lush scenery as your skilled oarsmen row upstream through mangroves. As you enter the darkness of the night, you’ll witness one of nature’s most incredible phenomena

  • tiny twinkling lights of thousands of fireflies swarming among the trees. This is truly a magical sight!

Your boat ride will last between 30-45 minutes, and you’ll be driven back to your hotel afterward with an amazing story to tell.

Outstanding. Everything we expected and more. - Firstly, we had an excellent driver who was really friendly and knowledgeable about many things. We really enjoyed travelling with him. All parts of the trip were fabulous from walking along the mango swamps to seeing the fireflies. The boatman placed a firefly in my wife's hand and she was delighted. We really could not recommend this trip more, or this driver, or this company. From the pick up to the drop off, it was fabulous.

Bright Idea - Hi Guys, On the end of our amazing afternoon feeding the Monkey's our tour guide brought us to see the Eagles being fed which was well worth the side tour. We ventured to our seafood meal which was pretty ordinary, to say the least. We then ventured over to the boat that was taking us to see the fireflies. I have taken this tour prior which I felt gave people a closer opportunity to see these amazing insects. We headed out in speedboats which got us to our destination faster BUT there you see them, there you don't. It was a great experience but they need to focus on Quality, not quantity. Great day with an awesome guide - BK our guide picked us up on time from the hotel in a small air conditioned van and kept us entertained and informed with facts and knowledge about KL, Malaysia and surrounding countries. First stop was an Indian temple which was very impressive craftmanship, then to the monkeys on the hill which was the best part, they were so numerous, docile, friendly and climbing up on our heads. There was also a nice view from the hill. After that we went for the tasty seafood dinner by a river and then continued on to the fireflies. We had to queue about 40 minutes for the sun to set and get on the boat as expected but we saw many twinkling xmas tree like bushes which was a great experience. The whole day was nice, but it was made fantastic by the tour guide BK, highly recommend him!

Fantastic food and excellent cruise to see the fireflies - This tour was excellent. the pick up from our hotel was confirmed via email the day before and then a whatsapp confirmation text on the day of the tour kept us informed. The tour guide, Ben was very nice and kept us entertained with informative commentary on the journey. the seafood dinner was yummy and very fresh. The fireflies cruise was excellent. you got up very close to the fireflies which looked like the fairy lights on a Christmas tree. beautiful!

Lovely visit to see the Fireflies - Well organised trip by Laurence. He included history and cultural information. We stopped to feed the monkeys which was a lovely experience. Gentle creatures but well fed, looked like they were recovering fromChristmas dinner. We were also given the opportunity to go on a short boat trip to see fishing eagles feeding (extra cost) which was well worth it as we saw dozens of wild eagles feeding. Dinner followed which was average and adequate then On the first boats to see the fireflies. They were fascinating if a little sparse as we had no rain that day. They are apparently most plentiful following rain. On the return trip to Kuala Lumpur our guide added a stop at a Hindu Temple which really made the whole experience magical. A great trip. Good value and experience. Ask for Laurence.

Very Interesting Experieince - Full day private tour was very good. Driver and guide were at our hotel at least 1/2 hour before the pick up time. Bus was very comfortable for our group of 9 and the guide from Happy Travels was friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable about Malaysia, its people and culture. Included seafood dinner at the restaurant was fresh, delicious and with a reasonably varied menu. A stop at the Selangor Park with the tram ride to see the park and feed the monkeys was fun. The experience of the fishing boat ride along the river was not quite what was expected (thought it would be a bigger boat and lots more fireflies lighting up the night sky) however it was a first to see the synchronized beetles light up like a Christmas tree and given that cameras couldn't really capture the moment...it will live on forever in our memory...All in all a good day in Malaysia.

Review of Tour Fireflies Boat Ride and Seafood Dinner - The driver was on time to collect us at the hotel. The drive from KL to the Fireflies is very long at least one hour, it was a bit boring as we were on the motorway. The dinner was interesting. The Fireflies were beautiful.
