Additional Information

We’ll start our journey by strolling along the tranquil paths of Kamakura, heading to a shrine renowned for its numerous torii gates and fox statues. Our local guide will delve into cultural insights, explaining the connection between shrines and foxes, Shinto philosophy, and the art of shrine worship.

Next, we’ll explore a temple nestled within a cave, where you’ll discover a fascinating tradition of cleansing money at the temple.

Following our exploration of local shrines and temples, we’ll embark on a 30 to 40-minute hiking adventure through the enchanting forest, immersing ourselves in the unique terrain and the beauty of nature. This journey will lead us to the awe-inspiring Great Buddha of Kamakura, an iconic monument with an 800-year history.

To conclude our adventure, we’ll guide you to a restaurant operated by the temple and try Kamakura’s local dishes like Udon, vegetable curry.

Incredible tour guide and tour experience!! - Our family absolutely loved this tour and it was our favourite of all our tours. Aside from the beautiful places that our tour guide Jim took us to, it was because of Jim himself. He was especially kind, knowledgeable, patient and inspiring. This tour exceeded our expectations and we all thank Jim so much!

Kamakura hiking tour - Enjoyed a beautiful day in Kamakura with Yoko. Visited the Inari Jinja shrine, a hike thru a woodsy area with amazing views of Yuigahama Beach, the Great Buddha, and Hasedera Temple. Enjoyed a Japanese style lunch at Hasedera Temple and street food on Komanchi street. Yoko was a great guide. Very knowledgeable, with a great personality. The other party cancelled, so this became a private tour for us. A great start to our time in Japan! Would highly recommend this tour and Yoko.

A great cultural experience - This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. Tour guide Rookie was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, taking me to sites not found on any tourist guides instead of places I had already been to. Even lunch was customized to sample the local specialties. Another bonus was included snacks from local shops. This economical tour was worth every penny/yuan.

Excellent local guide with deep knowledge of Kamakura and insights into the religious and historical traditions - This tour was excellent, and the guide, Riku, was such a gracious and knowledgeable host. She gave showed me so many parts of the Kamakura culture from local neighborhoods, beautiful nature trails, and local shops for shopping. Her knowledge of the shrines and temples was so interesting to learn, and she made everything very easy to understand. Her English was excellent so there was no problems with us understanding each other with my very limited Japanese. I highly recommend taking this tour if you want a great guide for Kamakura!
