- Yangguan Historic Sites - At 8:30 am, your private English-speaking guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel to embark on a day of adventure. You will be transferred by comfortably air-conditioned private vehicle to Yangguan that is located by a small oasis about 70 kilometers away from downtown Dunhuang. By 9:30 am, you will start hiking in Yangguan. The distance of your hike is approximately 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) from the entrance to the site of Yangguan Pass. Along the way, you will see the beautiful oasis before arriving at Yangguan Pass where you will apply for a “passport” from the governor as a souvenir and also visit the Museum of Yangguan Pass. Lunch will be served at a local farmer’s restaurant where you could visit the vineyard during lunch.

Embark on a private day-long hiking trip from your hotel in Dunhuang, traveling in a cozy, air-conditioned vehicle to Yangguan. On reaching, commence hiking for about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers), spanning roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the Yangguan Pass. Marvel at this significant pass of the ancient silk road and tour the Yangguan Pass Museum. A meal will be provided at a local farmer’s eatery. Post lunch, sightsee Jade Gate Pass and Han Dynasty’s great wall en route your return to Dunhuang.

Overall, one of our best days in... - <p>Overall, one of our best days in China. Our guide Steven was very nice, attentive and quite knowledgeable about the area, and has created a very interesting hiking route across the dunes around Yangguan Pass. He even gave us a gift, our very own passport for travel, approved by the general at the pass. Lunch was very good at a local farmer's place and Yumen Guan ruins in the afternoon were a great way to end the activity. I highly recommend this activity if you want to visit this remote area and avoid the crowds of tourists at Crescent Srping Town and enjoy the out-of-this-world dune landscape around Dunhuang.</p>
