Such Fun! - This bus experience with food and drink was a blast. My adult daughter and I had so much fun on the bus. We went in May so there were no issues with the heat. The staff was really into the experience as well and made it lively. My only complaint was that we did not get to go on the route/tour of the city as described because another event was occurring, so we just drove around.

Fun for All - The staff were welcoming and fun. Everyone was included. Even though the usual route was changed because of a run, I saw all the sites I wanted AND had a yummy tea!

AVOID - ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY OR DIETARY REQUIREMENT! - After deciding last year with my sister that we would take our Mum and our Gran for Afternoon Tea onboard the Red Bus Bistro for their Christmas present, I had emailed in April 2023 to ask whether they could accommodate our allergies to which they had assured me they could. So I purchased vouchers on 11/12/2023 for Afternoon Tea onboard the Red Bus Bistro for 4 people. I emailed the Red Bus Bistro team on 01/01/2024 telling them again about my sister’s egg&peanut allergy and my peanut allergy and that I was looking to redeem the vouchers. They emailed back on 03/01/2024 stating they “cater for all allergies” and I was to add our allergy information to the notes when booking so on 04/01/2024 I had booked for 18/05/2024 and wrote our requirements in the notes in regards to the allergies. In the emails back and forward I had also asked if they could tell me the menu we would be given to reassure us that they were catering for us however they advised that the menu changes week to week so I’d need to check nearer the time of the booking. Fast forward to the Tuesday of the week we are due to go (14/05/2024), I phoned the customer service team as I wanted to double check that everything was in place for our allergies and asked that they could finally provide me with the menu. The lady reassured me that everything was noted and good to go although she still couldn’t give me the menu as it’s up to the chefs what they prepare. At the end of the call she asked me if the allergy to peanuts was airborne or just consumed, I advised yes it would be airborne only if there were loose peanuts around us. On Friday (17/05/2024) the day before our booking I had a missed call while I was at work. When I finished work around 4:30pm I listened to the voicemail and it was a supervisor who had asked me to call them back as they were concerned of the fact the peanut allergy can be airborne. I called back and got through to a different supervisor who had told me they are going to have a Hazelnut cake and a Pistachio cake onboard, I had advised we are not allergic to hazelnuts or pistachios but he said there are peanuts in those cakes too. I said that is ok as it’s only an issue if the peanuts are loose. He said he’d call his manager and would call me back and after 5 minutes he called me back to say that they had cancelled our booking and I would be fully refunded. I had tried to explain again that it would be ok as both himself and the lady I spoke to on Tuesday had advised there would be no loose peanuts however he said they can’t guarantee guests won’t bring peanuts onboard. He told me there was nothing we could do or say as they had made the decision to cancel. My mum had then phoned them but she didn’t get anywhere with them either. I am also concerned that if I hadn’t called them back before the customer service team closed at 5pm we would have travelled to Glasgow to be turned away. The supervisor myself and my mum spoke to on the phone had an answer to everything as if this was not the first time he had dealt with complaints regarding allergies. Our biggest issue is the amount of time it took them to cancel since our first enquiry last April, they had plenty of time to check with us instead of waiting to the day before. I feel this is a cop out by the company as they are only thinking about liability. We have eaten out safely on many occasions when the food establishment has taken the time to provide us with egg and peanut free food. This company discriminated against us and didn’t even try to accommodate us.
