One of the best villages to visit in Sicily - The main town of Erice is located on top of Mount Erice, at around 750 metres (2,460 ft) above sea level, overlooking the city of Trapani, the low western coast towards Marsala, the dramatic Punta del Saraceno and Capo San Vito to the north-east, and the Aegadian Islands on Sicily's north-western coast. Erice is a wonderfully preserved Mediaeval town offering the most breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Very worthwhile half day place to visit. Don't miss trying the Genovese, Sicilian pastry!!!

Guided walking tour of Erice - We really appreciated that Alessio personally knew many of the vendors and store owners which made us feel as though we were being treated that much more special by the locals. The highlight was the visit to the woman who supposedly is the only remaining hand weaver of rugs in Sicily. The visit to her tiny stone shop to watch and listen to her demonstration of her craft was precious. Alessio also displayed a broad fund of knowledge regarding the various civilizations that controlled this part of Sicily through history. We would certainly recommend this tour to anyone.

Evocative trip to medieval times plus great food and souvenirs - It is true that if you are close to Sam Vito Lo Capo, please visit this idyllic little medieval town. I love it's narrow, narrow streets. I recommend comfortable shoes since the ground is covered by beautiful stones. Very nice restaurantes and little shops where you can find something inexpensive and with great quality if you are under a budget. Or just spend the big bucks buying gorgeous ceramic or tapestry. Try the regional candies, are heaven.

Magical - Since we drove,I must start there. The road was very steep and curvy-real fun for a dare devil like me. Once you arrive the search begins for a parking spot. It may be easier to take the cable car up. The scenery spectacular and you can see for miles. Erice is a very magical place and one not to miss if in the area.
