We’ll tell you how the process starts, how the industry grew, and all about some of the wacky characters and intriguing stories that helped to make the Scottish whisky industry the finest in the world.
Along the way, we’ll sample whiskies from each of the major whisky producing regions in Scotland, whilst exploring a newly uncovered underground area of Edinburgh.

Just off the Royal Mile, behind St Giles Cathedral on Parliament Square, you will find the CodE Pod Hostel just past the statue of James Braidwood the fireman. The meeting point is inside the hostel reception area, we'll head underground from there.

Memorable Edinburgh experience - Sarah was fantastic - so knowledgeable and so personable! She made our tasting one of our top experiences in Edinburgh, and The Lost Close ambience only added to the experience! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a memorable higher-end whisky tasting!

Must do in Edinburgh! - This is a must-do activity! We were treated to a quintet of impossible-to-find whiskies from all Scottish distillery regions, catered to our taste preferences. James was a very congenial and knowledgeable host, taking us down into The Lost Close and regaling us with humor and insights into the history of Scotch and Edinburgh.
The whiskies were fabulous and it was so much fun to do this with a geographically diverse group and compare tasting notes. Lots of laughs and no pretentiousness!!
Many thanks to James who provided an alternative means to access the Close for my step-challenged wife!

Small hiccup but host came through - James was very good host. Apologized as I was only one and person doing a different tour called in sick. Had giving me options that I missed and still accommodated me. He did both at same time and kept it very entertaining. I would definitely do this again if James is hosting.

Fantastic Whisky tasting session! - Lovely whisky tasting session in the heart of Edinburgh. James provided us with a fantastic selection of whisky and with his sense of humour, we had a fantastic time. The session also takes place underground which adds to the uniqueness of the experience. Highly recommended!

Very unique experience - Really enjoyed tasting a wide variety of whisky from different regions of Scotland with a very knowledgeable guide. The underground setting is extremely unique and adds to the experience.

Not worth the money - Not informative, fun or interesting. We paid a lot of money and didn’t feel we got our moneys worth. The vault was pretty much a basement, nothing special.
