- Plitvice Lakes National Park - Plitvice waterfalls are a part of our UNESCO heritage and the biggest natural attraction in Croatia. CNN Travel declared Plitvice as one of 25 world’s greatest natural wonders!\n\nThe National park is composed of almost 30. 000 hectares of woods and a dramatic string of 16 turquoise-colored lakes connected by a series of more than 100 waterfalls and cascades. The biggest of them - The Great Waterfall - is 78m / 255ft high.\n\nThe water flowing over the limestone and chalk has, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today.

Plitvice Lakes National Park consists of a collection of 16 natural lakes, and is recognized as a UNESCO heritage site for its spectacular vistas, diverse wildlife, and distinct turquoise waterways.
The color of the lake water fluctuates constantly. Almost instantly, you can observe shades of blue, green, aquamarine, and turquoise. This color shift is a result of the sunlight’s angle on the water’s surface and also the various organisms and minerals present.
The most dramatic and tallest waterfalls can be found within the lower lakes. One known as Milanovacki Slapovi, stands at a height of 20 meters. Another waterfall named Milanovac Jezero is shorter, about 8 meters, but impresses with a breadth of over 15 meters.
The largest of all waterfalls, simply called the Great Waterfall (Veliki Slap), boasts an imposing height of 70m.
