Highlights
  • Cantine Apicella - The Apicella family has been cultivating the land for generations and until the early 1970s produced excellent table wine. Then Giuseppe decides to create his own label and to bottle the wine he produces. The first vintage to be marketed is that of 1977, around 3000 bottles of Tramonti red wine, which kick off the Giuseppe Apicella winery and thirty years of success.
Apicella is the historic brand of viticulture on the Amalfi Coast. The first to bottle wine in Tramonti, a true agricultural lung and safeguard of the biodiversity of the area, he has always balanced his production with a traditional style.
The tasting begins at 11:30 with a visit to the historic A’ Scippata prephylloxera family vineyard, a pergola 5 minutes away on foot from the cellar. Afterwards we continue with a visit to the cellar with an explanation of the production process, fermentation of red and white wines, stabilization and ageing. Tasting of the wines in production accompanied by typical Tramontini products (cheeses, cured meats, toasted bread).

Additional Information

The Apicella lineage has been tending to the fields for many generations, and up until the early 1970s, they delivered exceptional table wine. The 1977 vintage marked their first commercial venture, releasing about 3000 bottles of Tramonti red wine, ushering in the Giuseppe Apicella winery and commencing three decades of triumphs. Apicella signifies the historical epitome of Amalfi Coast viticulture. Leading the way in bottling Tramonti Wine, the true agricultural heart and steward of the region’s biodiversity, they have consistently balanced their yield with a traditional and understated style. Your tasting experience opens with a tour to the family’s historical vineyard, A ‘Scrapata prefillossera, a pergola that’s a brief five-minute walk from the cellar. Following this, we will take you through the winery detailing the wine production process, fermenting of red and white wines, stabilisation and maturation. The tasting of wines in production is coupled with traditional Tramonti offerings (cheeses, cured meats, toasted bread).

A Personalised and Authentic Introduction to the Best Wine of the Amalfi Coast! - I've lived in Italy for more tha 5 years, each year my dad joins me for a trip to discover a new Italian City. This trip to the winary was a highligh of our few days on the Amalfi Coast. We were welcomed with joy to tour their wineyard and after a great tour of the winary tasted five superb wines with a plater of meats and cheese. This was not a big group tour, but just a personal meeting with some locals and them sharing the fruit of their labours of love. Stongly recomended, not to be missed!
