We were on a sailing trip and because people were feeling sick we were told the sails weren’t going to go up and there were many disappointed people and we had to ask to have the sails put up there was no wine and the food was ok the crew however was great and super fun!
Hands down the best sailing cruise! From the boat, lunch, locations, the crew, the slide, open bar, transportation ...I can go on and on about how wonderful our sailing time was! Such an amazing time snorkeling- seeing huge turtles and sting rays! Sat up front and enjoying sailing and sunshine! The lobster Lunch was fabulous! The only boat around with open bar, a slide and a tiki bar! If you want a good time, Catamaya is the way to go! You won’t be disappointed! We will definitely plan to come back and sail with them again!
The crew was friendly and attentive. Plenty of fun, lunch was good. Dancing was great.
My Catamaya adventure was honestly one of the greatest experiences of my life. The captain and crew were top-notch from the time I stepped foot onboard to the time I stepped back into my sandals at the docking point. The day we sailed was a windy one, and there were definitely lots of whitecaps to be seen in the water. While it was my first time experiencing a catamaran adventure, at no time did I feel nervous or unsafe, despite the swells. It was clear that passenger safety was the primary focus, followed closely by customer service. The crew were friendly and hospitable, always with a smile on their face and checking in to see that you were okay and didn't need anything. Your beverage was hardly empty when they were there to offer/bring you a refill. We were fortunate to be one of the few who didn't get a bit seasick on the rough waters, but watching the way the crew stepped in to care for those who were feeling ill was truly comforting. There was no joking or teasing, just true care, concern and compassion for those who needed it most. Due to the somewhat turbulent waters, and higher-than-normal swells, the crew stated that only experienced snorkelers were permitted to jump overboard to snorkel the reef, as advertised on the tour website that I'd read. About half of our group, myself included, hit the refreshing water along with two guides. Seeing the beauty and splendour of the sealife in their natural habitat was truly amazing. When a large stingray swam below me I was astonished and amazed, not too mention unbelievably thankful. While I would have loved to have been able to enjoy the reef for a longer time, I understood that the other passengers onboard were looking forward to calmer waters where they too could experience some time in the water. Back onboard we toured back to a calmer area, where everyone was welcomed and encouraged to jump in and cool off - or better yet, slide down the onboard waterslide and splash into the cool Carribean water below. Again you were permitted to take a mask and snorkel (which I did) and look around. I saw a few smaller fish near the seawall, but nothing compared to the abundance I'd seen at the reef. The Corona surfboard bar tethered in the water made for an unforgettable spot to enjoy an ice cold cervasa. While we were stopped at this stop, they stoked up the barbecues and cooked a truly delicious meal, offering your choice of lobster, chicken/vegetable skewers/steak or hamburger, accompanied by green salad and pasta salad. While you actually chose your entree before you even boarded the vessel, there was lots of food leftover, so you were able to help yourself to as much as you could possibly want. We definitely got our money's worth in the food/beverage department. After eating, I (and a couple of others) went back in the water for one more dip, At no time during this part of the tour did you feel rushed or hurried. You were welcome to enjoy the water for as long as you wanted. Once we were all "swam out", we took a quick seven-minute (or so) boat ride back to marina from which we'd departed, happy, sunsoaked, and truly grateful for an unforgettable adventure under the Mexico sun. I would highly, highly, highly recommend Catamaya for anyone wanting a unique catamaran adventure in Riviera Maya.
The tour needs to be about an hour longer. The snorkeling could be a but longer as well as the sail home. We have been several times and we always feel a bit rushed. The food, the drinks, the crew and everything else is all terrific.
We were really happy with the overall experience. The reef snorkeling was amazing, open bar and a super fun crew made this a memorable experience. Highly recommended.
The catamaran was awesome, the site we went snorkeling to was beautiful and the crew was entertaining and accommodating. The reasons for the less than 5 stars: 1. too many people on the boat. 2. because there were too many people, snorklers kept running into each other (now I know people just need to pay attention, but with people being people, less numbers would be good). 3. more snorkeling time would have been awesome it went by quickly, we spent more time avoiding people and not enjoying the surroundings.
The catamaya was excellent as well as the staff. They interacted with their guest which made the experience much more worth while. The food was also very delicious. I had the steak and it was muy perfecto. Next time I'm in Mexico I'll definitely be on board again!
Good food, good crew (attentive and fun), good sailboat. The only item missing was going to a nicer coral reef. Everything else was great. Oh, we did not have a demo on how to use our life vests, as an avid sailor I know the importance of safety. You never know when you are going to have an emergency.
Everything was great except snorkeling which isn’t necessarily their fault. It was not very colorful but I don’t know if they normally go to a different area or if there even are better areas to snorkel. Staff was great. Very nice and helpful. Boat was pretty. Food was great. Drinks also goood
Fun to follow the guide snorkeling but then also would be fun to have mellow snorkel time.
Nice personal touch. Awesome trip!
Had a great time on a beautiful ship. The music was great and overall the staff was nice. Only suggestion is to have a snorkeling guide for those who were apprehensive and needed to go at a slower pace. I wanted to snorkel but felt rushed and gave up. Still had a nice time.
The crew was great. The boat was amazing. The trip out to the coral to snorkel seemed very long. The water wasn't very smooth the day we went, so maybe that made it seem longer but a shorter trip would allow for more time back in the protected area to swim, slide, and eat.
Great excursion and value!
Rough waters caused a little bit of seasickness, but otherwise it was a beautiful relaxing experience. We loved stopping to swim and the surfboard bar. The entire staff was very fun and nice.
The boat ride was good as well as the food and drinks. The snorkeling was not worth the effort. Too many people for this. Not enough time to snorkel since it was very difficult to follow with all the people and the guide. People don't watch where they are going. I would rather have been able to explore on my own. If you have to feed the fish to get them to come for snorkeling then its not good snorkeling.
We had a great time on our sail on April 1st. The captain and crew were very friendly and created a great atmosphere. The ocean was pretty rough though and I don't think they did a very good job of explaining boat safety. There was no mention of where the life jackets were stored nor any warning about holding on if on the front of the boat. We hit a substantial wave and my friend went flying. The lady next to her did as well and ended up with several cuts/scrapes and bruises. The water was too rough for snorkeling but that was fine with us - we find a calm alcove and were able to swim and enjoy some beverages there. Overall a very fun day.
The best customer service, upbeat vibe on the boat, snorkeling was terrific, provided the opportunity to purchase pictures that will love for a lifetime
Best part of our vacation. Wonderful time, wonderful people. Absolutely perfect
The crew looked after us very well. It was a great day on the water! Our lunch was very good and the crew made sure we had enough refreshments to keep the event fun and entertaining!! Muchas Gracias for a great catamaran to sail on too!!
Amazing crew and overall very positive experience. Best part of our 6 day trip. Will definitely be coming back someday!
The cruise was very well organized. The staff provided great service and always checked with passengers to make sure they were being taken care of. The food was very good with four different meal options. Everything about the cruise was just as described and we would definitely cruise again with Catamaya!
Was a great trip- staff was fantastic! Thanks again!
Only downside was the high number of people allowed on the trip. We did not expect it to be extremely full. Every spot on the boat was taken by the time we arrived. We arrived last because one of the guests we picked up on the shuttle was sick and we waited for them. During the snorkeling, it was very crowded when the guide kept everyone together. Lots of people getting kicked by other people. I'd recommend lowering the max limit per adventure to make it more enjoyable. Otherwise the people to arrive last to the boat (which is out of their control), may have to stand and not even get to sit down on the boat.
Great crew! Disappointed that there was no sailing, just motor the whole way. One of the reasons we chose a catamaran trip was because we wanted the experience of being propelled by the wind. Food was good too.
We have been on other Catamaran tours before where the food was all you can eat or you were not limited to just one choice of item. The steak was tough with grizzle. Otherwise the crew were very friendly and hospitable. A fun time. Our group said it was the best snorkelling they have been on.
