The Red Patrol Communist Bucharest Tour is a unique, private exploration of Bucharest that transports you back to the past in a fully restored vintage Romanian vehicle from the 1970s-1980s!
This is a 3-hour car-guided private tour of Bucharest, taking you through notable city landmarks such as The People’s Palace (Casa Poporului), The Revolution Square, Victoria Socialismului Boulevard (Ceausescu’s Champs-Élysées), the Headquarters of the Romanian Communist Party, Casa Presei, and many more.
Embark on a 30-km tour of the city, exploring Bucharest’s elegant boulevards while personally driving (or with a private driver) an impeccably restored Romanian Dacia 1300/1310 manufactured in the 70’s-80’s.
At the major landmarks of the tour, you can choose to stay in the car or get out, capture memorable snapshots of your journey, and learn fascinating narratives portraying the life of a true comrade in Bucharest’s Communist era.

- Bring your ID card and driving license with you at the tour
- If you want to drive, please be sure to provide a driver with a valid driving license on the date of the tour!
- Dacia 1300/1310 is a 70- 80’s classics car that do not include AC, ABS,GPS navigation servo-direction or automatic gear drive.
- All the cars provided by The Red Patrol are fully restored classics that meet fully the safety traffic regulations.
- Take with in the day of the tour a comfortable outfit for driving.
- The Red Patrol Tour of Duty provides quality and safe conditions tours with fully restored vehicles and we do not allow the participation with pets or children under 10 years old.
- During wintertime our cars are heated !

Must do activity! - Fun being driven in a classic Dacia. (So happy i did not need to drive myself). Insightfull wrt the recent history of Roemenia told in a enthousiastic way. Extremely knowledgable guide who is on a mission to tell the balanced good an bad parts of the history of Roemenia. Thanks for this impressive afternoon.

Learn about communism by driving communist cars. - The Red Patrol Tours is a time machine were you can travel back to the days of communism by driving the communist cars. We were a group of 12 people raking the your and we had a great time. And we learned a lot about communism in Ronania. The cars were fantastisk. Highly recommended!

Fantastic tour! - We did this tour with five friends in two old Dacias. There is only one word for this tour: fantastic! The communication in advance was very pleasant with Serban. He picked us up at the hotel (the street was not accessible by car) and then we walked to the two Dacias parked nearby. Both cars were driven by a guide (Serben and Dan) due to the traffic on the road. We drove around Bucharest for 3 hours and stopped at many beautiful and historical places. During the entire tour we received a lot of information about all the sights and we also heard special and 'funny' stories about history and especially the communist period under Ceausescu. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bucharest! Thank you Serban and Dan for this fun and interesting experience!!

Communism tour whilst driving an old Dacia Car - Serban is a fantastic guide and very passionate which is great to see. Definitely make sure you have a go at driving one of the cars, just make sure you start breaking before you think you need to! Thank you to the other guides that came along in the cars with us and put up with my erratic driving! If you like Communism history and prefer to drive around rather than walk, then its for you.

What an awesome unique tour by guides who love what they do - This tour made a great trip epic by learning all about the modern history of Romania and the communist era through the eyes of our guides who lived through it. Between the guides they each have their expertise and are so passionate about teaching you the history of either the cars and country. I couldn't believe they let you drive their 70's classic Dacia's and navigate you safely and clearly around the city. Their choice of places to stop and talk about the history to the area was spot on and you couldn't experience this just by reading a guide book. The cherry on the cake is the newspaper they've created about a summary of the things you learnt. It's written in their brilliant humour and it was given to us at the end of the tour as a memento. Thank you Redpatrol!

Great Way to Spend My Day in Bucharest - We had one day in Bucharest prior to having to work on a business trip. I had recently read "Children of the Night" a book about the modern history of Romania that focused a lot on the communist period. This made me very interested to hear more and from a local perspective. My husband who had not read the book is interested in history but I also thought he would love the car. I was right. Catalin was on time for the pick up and the car was of a different time and as an American in my 40s it was just unreal. The tour was more than we could have expected. Catalin was engaging and knowledgeable. We pummeled him with questions and he answered everything. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a unique experience.

Great sightseeing tour of Bucharest - This trip was amazing! Catalin our guide knew a ton about the city and was able to share loads of fun stories and facts. We got to see some great interesting Communist era buildings and of course ride around in the sweet Dacia (Malvina!) Tons of great photo ops too!!
