  • Fagaras Fortress - The construction of the Făgăraș fortress began in 1310, on the site of an old wooden fortification from the 12th century. It was built for strategic purposes, namely to defend the south-east of Transylvania from the invasions of the Tatars and the Ottomans. In 1526, Ștefan Mailat, who had become voivode of Transylvania and master of the fortress and the domains around Făgăraș, then transformed the building into a real fortress. The defense walls were doubled in thickness and new spaces were laid out in the rooms.

The Transfagarasan highway, constructed for military strategic purposes, stands as the tallest (2042m) and most intensely scenic asphalt route within Romania. It spans from North to South through the loftiest sections of the Carpathian Mountain range, tying together the historic sectors of Transylvania and Wallachia.

The Fagaras massifs sit at the pinnacle of Romania’s and the Carpathian’s mountain range, boasting Moldoveanu as its highest apex at 2544m.

Balea Lac, a naturally formed glacier lake, measures at 2040m in altitude, extending 360 meters in length, 240 meters in breadth, and 11 meters in depth.

Balea Waterfall, standing 60 meters high, ranks among Romania’s most celebrated cascades.
