Apart from exploring the castle’s historic corridors, you also get leisure time for souvenir shopping in the local bazaar located at the base of the castle.

Prior to our trip to the Rasnov fortress, we schedule a brief pit-stop at a local Palinca distillery. Here, you get to sample a variety of traditional Romanian spirits manufactured from plums, apricots, cherries, pears, and more. You also have the opportunity to witness the making process and purchase some to take home.

Excellent tour guide! - Vlad is an excellent tour guide! He is very knowledgable, friendly and fun. We started off with a full day tour of the three castles and enjoyed it so much that we booked another tour with him for the next day, to visit the bear sanctuary. He is very patient, never made us feel under pressure for time and took lots of photos for us. He is a safe driver, his car was very clean and he provided us with water and umbrellas. He also gave us advice on other things such as a club to go to on Halloween night, even after the tour ended. Overall he is excellent and I couldn’t fault him in any way, I highly recommend him and would love to see him again if I’m ever back in Romania!
